Abstract

The aim of this work is to delimit the theoretical path of the concept of Death Drive in Jacques Lacan in order to emphasize its relationship with the Freudian Thing and the Object a. In this sense, we will be directly involved with the field of the Real as a record of the inadequacy that escapes the imagery and symbolic processes that build our perspective of the world. In this way, we will specifically deal with the Death Drive as a negative ontology that is present in the transferential bonds of analysis and our subjectivity, as well as trace its relationship with the Object a, object-cause of desire. In this sense, our objective is to highlight the way in which the Death Drive is directly linked to Symbolic Castration and how it affects us. Finally, we will make some considerations and conclusions about the Death Drive within the Lacanian project as the engine of the analytical process as the foundation of transferential bonds.
