Vergonha: um grande instigador de segredos

A vergonha reflete sentimentos negativos em relação ao self como um todo. Uma revisão detalhada da psicologia da vergonha considera a sua relação com a culpa, com o fracasso dos ideais e com uma dialética do narcisismo refletindo tensão entre os pólos grandioso e diminuído da autoexperiência. O autor apresenta uma linguagem da vergonha juntamente com uma seqüência desenvolvimental da vergonha. O trabalho volta-se, então, para os segredos como uma manifestação típica da vergonha. São apresentados diversos exemplos clínicos de segredos mantidos em relação ao self, bem como a outros, com a particular elaboração da vergonha e segredos na ficção de Philip Roth. Finalmente, são sugeridas abordagens ao tratamento psicodinâmico dos segredos (AU)
