Algumas reflexões sobre Freud e a religião

Resumen

Cinquenta anos após a morte de Freud pode se constata que foram vãs as esperanças, por ele expressas, de que o intelecto viesse a exercer sua primazia sobre a religião. O recuo que a situação atual nos proporciona, permite que reavaliemos a análise freudiana do fenômeno religioso. Esta tem com ponto central o complexo paterno e o sentimento de culpa. é uma abordagem que se aplica essencialmente à religião judaica, religião do pai e da separação, aspectos esses antitéticos ao narcisismo. Nos textos dedica dos ao tema, Freud não se deteve no reconhecimento do papel do narcisismo, da nostalgia da fusão com a mãe, na origem do sentimento religioso. A promessa da felicidade absoluta, da perfeição narcísica está no bojo dos fanatismos presentes, não apenas na religião, mas também nas ideologias que pretenderam substituí­la

Abstract

Fifty years after the death of Freud it is found that his hopes that the intellect would take precedence over religion were in vain. With our present hindsight, we can reassess the Freudian analysis of the religious phenomenon. The central point of religion is the father complex and feeling of guilt. It is an approach which is applied essentially to the Jewish religion, the religion of the father and separation, aspects previous to narcissism. In texts on this theme, Freud did not take a longer look at the role of narcissism in the nostalgia of fusion with the mother, at the source of religious feelings. The promise of absolute happiness, of narcissism perfection, is present in the fanaticism found, not only in religion, but also in the ideologies which intend to replace it.
