Abstract

In this paper, the author will go over phallocratic biases still widespread in psychoanalysis and often treated as scientific fact. This includes misogynistic historical narratives denying vulva worship and claiming that matriarchal societies and the Amazons did not exist, both stemming from historical revisionism. These claims will be backed in the paper by recent historical and archaeological sources, including images and research findings. Although anthropologists and historians have been pointing out these errors since the end of the 20th century, they are still frequently repeated without question. Finally, the paper will raise hypotheses for the possible origins of these taboos regarding the feminine both within psychoanalysis
and in other fields.
