The work is based on the understanding of the essential role of the analyst’s mind as a fundamental tool of analytic technique, so that, through his or her own traumatic aspects, the analyst may gain access to the corresponding contents in the patient. It stems from the author’s experience in front of the installation by the artist Christoph Buchel, exhibited at the Prada Foundation during the 60th Venice Biennale in 2024. The author invites readers to accompany her on this journey through the exhibition, through the processes it stirred in her mind, and finally, to engage in reflections on the analytic process. Faced with the psychic impact of excesses, such as those present in the installation, it is argued that it is the analyst—fully engaged with his or her entire being—who can create connections, render intelligible, represent, and narrate a story to what had until then remained a homogeneous mass, without form, the unrepresentable.
